Using a bright blue in a living room is a great way to liven up the space and can be paired with several colours to create a comfortable space. If the blue is the accent wall colour in the room I would pair it with a neutral to allow the blue to shine. Classically it is often paired with white. This creates a clean and sharp look. However depending on the vibrancy of the blue is can also be a little hard on the eyes as they are both very bright. Thus pairing it with a light neutral wont take away from the blue intensity however it will soften the overall look and bring a bit of coziness to the room. Think of off-whites, light greys, sand colours etc. Or even pairing it with a very light blue. Now, if the main colour in the room is bright blue and you are looking for a colour to add to the room as the accent wall there are a lot of options too. Personally I would look at adding a darker colour to the room. Again, as with the light neutrals, it will balance the overall look while adding interest. For ‘safe’ options, look at dark blue, with perhaps a grey undertone to add a bit of neutral. Or vice versa a dark grey with a blue undertone. But if you’d like something perhaps a little more adventurous they look at oranges, yellows or pinks. It can be very playful and fun when added in the right tone. All images from Pinterest.com
